23 with RA

well...i dont have any pictures to share..but i do have a story. Im 23 years old and just diagnosed with poly arthristis which they say is caused by RA. for two months now my life has been awful..being misdiagnosed with lime disease, doing the whole antibiotic treatment and nothing helped. finally my doctor sent me to a rheumatologist.. right away he knew what i had. i was put on prednisone which i wasnt too happy about but it sure did make me feel better. unfortunatly since it went so long undetected my elbow had permenent damage and i can straighten my arm out all the way. all i wonder is..why me? why so early..? was it something i did?

I was currently dx with RA on Wed, 7/20/11! I have to wait til Sept. to even see a Rheumatologist at the one and only Mayo Clinic :) I'm 29 with a 15mo.baby girl and am still wondering what I did to deserve this disease! So ur not alone...I have been online every night since the 20th and it actually helps to know that ppl can live normal productive lifes!! Your not alone :) Best of luck

I am 30 years old just got diagnosed with RA two months ago after one year trying to figure-out what I have. I have two small children to take care of, but the constant fatigue and pain are making my life miserable. Even typing this comment is painful to me. I am on a treatment but it makes me feel worst. Did anyone felt better after taking the immune suppressors or medication and steroids?

I am so g;ad that I found this blog, no one can understand what I have unless he/she feels the same.

Your story touched me....Arthritis does not discriminate age… Soo painful emotionally and physically. Your never too young to get arthritis, my best friend at 9 years old had arthritis back in 1993.. You couldnt tell she was a sweet little girl who loved to ice skate and rarly let people see her pain. I know a spray called Privic its for people who have “restless legs” we both swear by this stuff. If it helps us I can only hope it helps more people. here is the link www.privic.com

I was diagnozed with RA at 27. Im taking traditional Indian - Ayurvedic medication for it. Along with it, basically just trying to eat well - mostly vegetarian, not stress out too much and exercise and meditate. Stay away from steroids and NSAIDs and all those.

I also tried medicated enema (known as 'basti' in Ayurveda) for detox and cleansing of the digestive system. It worked like magic! Im gonna do it once every year: a 3-5 day treatment.

Drink a spoonful of castor oil every night with warm water. Cleanses the system and removes the settled toxins which cause RA. Also include ginger in your food. Good for digestion.

Hope we can all get better ! :)

I feel where you are coming from! I was 23 when my body decided to attack itself! Each Dr handed me off to the next. Finally someone put me on prednisone and sent me to a Rheumatologist and he wasn't a very good one. So I proactively searched for a good one in my area. I am now 25 and they still say i have a cousin to RA and Lupus, but they are not sure of what it is quite yet, but you give me hope that I am not the only one young with this! I feel your pain.. Hope all goes well for you and you feel better!

I want to say I feel your pain, but I am not as young as you, so maybe it's not the same. I'm 41, in nursing school and was told today that my blood work came back postive for rheumatoid. I cried. I thought maybe I should not go on any further with nursing school. I'm juts afraid honestly.
